Leaders argue that while phones are used for education in schools, they are misused at home, and restricting their use will instill family values and discipline. The decision emphasizes equal treatment for both genders. Incidentally, the Jalore Panchayat in Rajasthan had recently withdrawn its controversial order on banning smartphones for daughters and daughters-in-law after protests.
